Andrea Bocelli is an Italian singer, musician and producer, born on September 21, 1958, in Lajatico, Pisa. Before he was born, doctors detected an anomaly and the possibility of the birth of a disabled baby, so they recommended that his mother have an abortion. But his mother refused and she had Andrea, who was born with vision problems and congenital glaucoma. As a child he began to study piano and flute and, at the age of 12, he was hit on the head with a soccer ball while playing, which caused his total blindness. Determined not to be defeated by the event, Andrea continued to practice music tirelessly, manifesting a special talent from a young age, in addition to studying law at the University of Pisa, obtaining a doctorate and working for a year as a defense lawyer. Shortly after, he contacted the tenor Franco Corelli, who accepted him as a student. His success is mainly due to an audition test that he sent to Pavarotti himself to do a duet with him, causing surprise and admiration in the legendary tenor. Since then, Bocelli has recorded several studio albums, participated in important world tours and has been nominated for a Grammy Award on two occasions.
