Born on December 16, 1963 in San Francisco, California, Benjamin George Bratt began developing his acting career by participating in various plays in high school. He studied his career at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He found his first roles in films at the beginning of the 90s, including Blood In, Blood Out (1993), Demolition Man (1993) and The River Wild (1994). These were followed by many other films such as Miss Sympathy (2000), alongside Sandra Bullock, Traffic (2000) by Steven Soderbergh, The Woodsman (2004) and The Next Best Thing (2000) where he worked with Madonna.

He has also participated in dubbing in animated films such as Despicable Me 2 (2013) and Coco (2017).

Benjamin Bratt has also worked in many television series, his most famous role being King Curtis on Law & Order (which earned him an Emmy Award nomination in 1999).
