I am fucking gutted to hear this news. I am shocked. I did not know Charles Officer well but I worked with him twice and ran into him a half dozen times over the years. The magic thing about Charles for me was that I just always felt like we were close. Like we had known each other always. It was just that easy to share time and ideas with him. There was just a kind of an instant “I get you”ness about him. A sense of openness and welcome about him. He was focused on the work but always with a sense of play and a legitimate excitement about and interest in the people he was collaborating with, in any given moment. And always with a sense of being Charles the guy as well as being Charles the director. You took him seriously and wanted to deliver for him in that capacity but you also just wanted to make some cool shit with your buddy, Charles. It breaks my heart to think I won’t work with him again but it fucking shatters it to think I won’t ever see that gorgeous fucking smile and share a hug with the man again. My condolences to his beautiful wife, Alice and their son and to allWho knew and loved him.

In conclusion, the unexpected passing of Charles Officer is a significant loss to the creative world. His life, marked by passion and excellence, will forever be remembered. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and all those mourning his loss.
