‘Esa Dhak Dhak Horela Hai’: Fans Worried As Richard Kettleborough To Umpire For IND vs AUS World Cup 2023 Final

World Cup 2023: The announcement of Richard Illingworth and Richard Kettleborough as the on-field umpires for the India vs Australia World Cup 2023 final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium has stirred restlessness among Indian fans. Kettleborough’s recurrent presence in significant matches has been synonymous with unfortunate outcomes for India over the past decade, including the T20 World Cup in 2014, the 2015 ODI World Cup semi-final, the 2016 T20 World Cup semi-final, the 2017 Champions Trophy final, and the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final.

In 2022, India’s T20 World Cup semi-final versus England, Kettleborough was not the match umpire. Yet, we faced a loss, succumbing to a defeat by 10 wickets.

Richard Kettleborough was named umpire on Friday, just two days ahead of the significant final on Sunday (November 19). It marks his second time officiating in such a prestigious event, following his involvement in the 2015 final alongside Kumar Dharmasena, where Australia emerged victorious against New Zealand at the MCG. This has disappoint many. A user wrote, “Hey Bhagwan, why is this guy still here in India? He should have left with the English team by now, right?” Another added, “I was having a good day until I found out that this guy (Kettleborough) will be umpiring in the finals.” A third comment read, “Waiting for that person in @icc who made Panauti Richard Kettleborough the umpire for Final.”

Meanwhile, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced the list of celebrities who will be performing. taking to its official handle, BCCI posted, “It doesn’t get any bigger than this The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 Final is filled with stellar performances and an experience of a lifetime.”

During the first innings’ drinks break, the renowned Gujarati singer Aditya Gadhvi, known for Khalasi, is scheduled to perform. For the interval, a vibrant lineup including music maestro Pritam and singers Jonita Gandhi, Nakash Aziz, Amit Mishra, Akasa Singh, and Tushar Joshi will enthrall the packed audience at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Adding to the spectacle, a laser and light show is set to captivate the crowd during the break in the second innings.
