James Lyons, Roslindale MA, Resident, Death – James J. Lyons, Sr. died June 22, 2004 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA after a brief illness, he was 90.

Born in Cambridge, MA on June 30, 1913 to the late John and Celia (Mooney) Lyons, James was raised in Cambridge. He has been an Arlington resident for over 60 years. A WW II Army veteran, he served as a TEC 4 in the U.S. Army, Battery C, 658th Field Artillery Battalion from 1942 to 1946. He is a retired Arlington Police Officer having served the Town of Arlington for 35 years.

For the last 25 years he worked for Dandi-Lyons. Beloved husband of Dorothea M. (Crowley) Lyons. Loving father of Geraldine Lyons of Woburn, James J. Lyons, Jr. & his wife Bernadette of Andover and Dorothea M. Amanti & her husband Thomas of Lynnfield. Brother of Cornelius Lyons & his wife Kay of No. Attleboro, the late Margaret LeBlanc, William, Hugh, Charles, Thomas and John Lyons.

Beloved brother in law of Henry & Virginia Curtin of East Bridgewater, Della Crowley of Lynnfield and the late Sister Margaret Crowley. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, Steven, Debbi & Diane Amanti and Mikey & Tyler Lyons. Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut Street (Rte 60, adjacent to St. Agnes’ Church) ARLINGTON on Friday, June 25th at 9 am.

Funeral Mass in St. Agnes’ Church, 30 Medford Street, Arlington, MA at 10 am. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James’ may be made to the MGH Wound Care Center, c/o Barbara Dunderdale, Development Office, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02114.
