Predeceased by his father, Alexander Bedford; his mother, Florance (Newell) Bedford; his stepmother, Jean (Wood) Bedford and his younger brother, Charlie Bedford. John worked at Ben’s bakery (Sydney) for many years and enjoyed many other jobs along the way. After moving to Halifax, he worked with City Center Properties for 20 years and then retired, again and again.

He loved to work and be around people. He loved children and young people as he spent many years as the Commander of Awana, the Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School bus driver at Faith Baptist in Sydney. He also did discipleship with some young people who put their faith in Jesus.
