Kurtwood Smith is an American actor, born on July 3, 1943, in New Lisbon, Wisconsin. He studied theater at the universities of San Mateo and San Jose, California, where he grew up, before earning a theater scholarship to Stanford’s MFA program. During the 1970s he was a permanent member of the Los Gatos Theater and at the end of the 70s, he decided to settle in Los Angeles to try his luck in film and television, managing to establish himself in the 80s, with one of his most important roles. well-known, that of the villain Clarence Boddicker, in the film Robocop (1987), by Paul Verhoeven, in addition to standing out, two years later, in the popular film Dead Poets Society (1989). Almost a decade later in various roles, mainly as a villain, Smith landed another of his best-known roles, that of Red Forman, in the successful series That ‘ 70s Show (1998-2006), a role that he reprized again in the new version of the series, now set in the ’90s and titled That ’90s Show (2023)
