H. Wilson “Wil” Bacon, Jr., 83, of Finksburg, MD, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at UPMC Hanover.

Born on Tuesday, May 14, 1940 in Carney, MD, he was the son of the late Horace Wilson Bacon, Sr. and Doris F. Schulte Bacon, and step-son of the late, Rita Bacon. Wil was a graduate of Parkville (MD) High School and was a retired employee of Acme Markets. He proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Wil enjoyed his time as a commercial crabber on the Chesapeake Bay, hunting, and spending time at his cabin in West Virginia and at the Stonewall Fish Farm. Above all, he loved to be with his family and friends.

Wil is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joanna K. Bacon; three daughters, Kimberly A. Bacon of Hanover, Colleen T. Small and her husband, Mark, of Glenville, and Laura E. Lords and her husband, Danny, of Fort Mill, SC; three grandchildren, Lauren Anne Thompson, Ryan Wilson Small and Faith Elizabeth Small; and a step-brother, Mike Heise and his wife, Carolyn.

A memorial mass will be said at 11:00 AM Friday, December 29, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover by The Rev. Samuel Miller. The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 PM and 6-8:00 PM Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover, and at the church one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SpiriTrust Lutheran – The Village at Utz Terrace, 2100 Utz Terrace, Hanover, PA 17331.
