Jack D. Baumgardner, 95, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at UPMC Hanover with his loving family by his side.

Born May 15, 1928, in Lewistown, PA, Jack was the loving son of the late John D. and Bonnilee (Davidson) Baumgardner, and the loving husband of the late Gloria H. Baumgardner with whom he shared sixty-one years of marriage until her passing on January 1, 2014.

Jack was a member of First Church of Hanover.

Mr. Baumgardner retired from Bethlehem Steel in 1993, with 47 years of service.

Jack was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved astronomy, history, nature, and genealogy. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and loved music, and reading his Bible.

Jack is survived by his daughters, Kathy J. O’Brien and Debbie Edwards, both of Hanover, PA; five grandchildren, Robert L. O’Brien, Erin M. O’Brien, Kara A. Tesoriero, James Edwards, and Julie Baumgardner; five great-grandchildren, Luca Tesoriero, Ellie Tesoriero, Reagan Baumgardner, Kiera Baumgardner, Maeve Edwards; and a sister, Greta Baumgardner. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Mona Headings and Vaughn Baumgardner.

A memorial service to celebrate and remember Jack will be held 10:30 AM, Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Rev. Dr. B. Michael Brossman officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 9-10:30 AM, Thursday, December 28,2023, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s name to the Guthrie Memorial Library Book Donation, 2 Library Place, Hanover, PA 17331.
