Horace Warren Uffelman, age 90, of Spring Grove, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 2, 2023 at Cross Keys Village – the Brethren Home Community in New Oxford.

Horace was born in York on September 10, 1933 and was the son of the late Horace E. and Maquilla (Strausbaugh) Uffelman. He graduated with the Class of 1951 at Spring Grove High School and worked at P. H. Glatfelter, Co. in Spring Grove and retired in 1993 after 41 years of service. Horace was active in the Spring Grove Community during most of his life having served on the PTO when his children were in school, served on the Spring Grove School Board for many years, and was an active member of the Spring Grove and Dover Lions Club for over 60 years. He greatly enjoyed giving back to his community in service.

Horace is survived by his wife of 27 years Sieglinde Miller Uffelman. He is also survived by his two children Scott Uffelman and his wife Mary of Spring Grove; and Lois Gunnet and her husband Kevin of York. He is also survived by three step-daughters Sheree Emerson and her husband Charlie of Delaware, Gina Dawes of Virginia, and Heather Dawes and husband Kenny Pieper of North Carolina. He leaves ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren whom he cherished with all of his heart. Horace also leaves a brother Thomas Uffelman of Spring Grove and a daughter-in-law Lisa Uffelman of Spring Grove. Horace was preceded in death by his late wife, Nancy Miller Uffelman (after 38 years of marriage), his sons Bradley W. and Ross A. Uffelman, and twin grandchildren.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Horace’s life will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 11:00AM at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., of Spring Grove, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, PA 17362 with Pastor Kevin Becker officiating. Inurnment will be held privately at Spring Grove Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff of Somerset at Cross Keys Village and John of Amedisys Hospice for their compassion, care and support during his time there.
