Marjorie “Margie” L. Swett

RUMFORD – Marjorie “Margie” L. Swett, 75, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, at the Rumford Community Home. She passed peacefully surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Margie was born in Rumford, on May 30, 1948, and was the daughter of Herbert and Doris (Bailey) Swett. She was a graduate of Mexico High School and worked in food service at Meroby Elementary for many years. She loved to see the little ones as they came through the lunch line and made sure each of them felt special. She had a compassionate heart, she supported family and friends in times of hardship, and selflessly cared for her mother, Doris, in her time of need. She was a huge fan of the Red Sox and a member of the Eagles Club in Rumford; a lot of special memories were made there, celebrations, and countless good times with family and friends. She enjoyed playing cribbage and pinochle, live music, dancing, and flirting with a handsome man. She was quick with a joke, the dirtier the better and truly was the life of the party. She will be missed.

Survivors include her daughters, Sonya Samalis and her husband Michael of Bolton, Vt., and Lisa Lough and husband Tom of Fayette, grandchildren, MacKenzie Friese and husband Andrew Coulombe and Rally Friese, Sister Jennie Cushman and husband Robert of Rumford, her lifelong friend Donna Foreman and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Family and friends are invited to share memories with the family at http://www.meaderandson.com

A celebration of life will be held on Jan. 27, 2024 from 3-6 p.m.,at the Rumford Eagle’s Club, 129 Rumford Avenue, Rumford. Arrangements are under the direction of Meader & Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford.
