Scott Schoffstall Obituary – In loving memory of Scott Vanard Schoffstall, who, at the age of 52, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, due to complications of Pancreatic Cancer. Scott’s life was marked by service to his country, love for his family, and a courageous battle against illness. His legacy will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Scott, born on Dec. 3, 1971, in Subic Bay, Philippines, was the son of Keith V and Susan A Piper Schoffstall. Raised in a military family, Scott graduated from Strongsville High School and later served his nation as a proud United States Marine. His commitment to duty and service defined his character.

On June 17, 2017, Scott entered into the bond of marriage with Joni Ann Van Dorn at the Tipton Fairgrounds. Their union was a testament to love, companionship, and shared dreams. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the support that comes from a true partnership.

Scott’s journey took him to various locations, including Iowa, Ohio, Pennsylvania, the Philippines, and Florida. Throughout his life, he worked in different capacities, contributing his skills to various factories, Wal-Mart, Hy-Vee, and Amazon. His dedication to hard work and providing for his family was evident in his diverse career.

A man of faith, Scott embraced the Catholic tradition, finding solace and strength in his beliefs. His spiritual foundation guided him through life’s challenges and brought comfort to those who shared in his faith.

Scott’s memory lives on through his loving family, including his wife, Joni Schoffstall of Mechanicsville, Iowa; parents, Keith and Susan Schoffstall of Macedonia, Ohio; sister, Erin (Mike) McHale, and their three children of Macedonia, Ohio; stepchildren, Nikki Carlson, Aubrey Carlson, Morgan Carlson, and Brandon Carlson; two step-grandchildren, Dexter Carlson and Sawyer Carlson, as well as several aunts and an uncle.

Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and a spirit that will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Visitation to celebrate Scott’s life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 23rd, from noon to 2 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. The interment and military honors will conclude at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsville, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial for Pancreatic Cancer Research in Scott Schoffstall’s name. Donations to this cause can be made in honor of Scott’s memory, reflecting his enduring spirit of hope and support for others facing similar challenges.
