Selma Blair Beitner is an American actress, born in Southfield, Michigan, on June 23, 1973. Daughter of Molly Ann and Elliot Beitner, Selma studied at Kalamazoo College, and then studied English and art at the University of Michigan.

Interested in photography, Ella Selma moved to New York to pursue a career as a professional photographer. In that city, the young woman would become interested in acting and theater, entering the Stella Adler Conservatory.

While studying at the prestigious conservatory, Selma was discovered by a film agent, who would get her her first role, in the film In & Out (1997), which would be followed by participations in Scream 2 (1997), Strong Island Boys ( 1997). and I Can’t Wait Anymore ( 1998). But it would be a year later when Selma was signed for one of her most important roles, as the innocent Cecile Caldwell, in the popular film Sex Games (1999), in which she shared credits with the very young Ryan Phillippe, Reese Whiterspoon and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Almost immediately, Selma found another of her roles that would put her at the peak of her popularity, in the television series Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane (1999-2000).

During the 2000s, Selma enjoyed great recognition in both major productions and independent films. He could be seen starring in films such as The Sweetest Thing (2002), Hellboy (2004), The Agreement (2005), Terror in the Fog ( 2005), In Love with My Ex (2007), The Game of Love (2007 ), Replicas (2012), among others.

In recent years, the actress has been frequent on television, in the series Kath and Kim (2008), Anger Management (2012-2014), American Crime Story (2016) and Lost in Space ( 2018).
