Allegany- Thomas Richard Moran, passed away on Monday (December 18, 2023) after a tragic accident at home.
Born February 1, 2000 in Olean, he is the son of Thomas and Trisha (Peck) Moran.
Tommy is a vibrant and charismatic soul who is always the life of the party. He can make friends with everyone he meets, he can’t help but like. He gives his 100% and never backs down. Tommy is a hard worker and is converting his house with Shana to build their forever home. Tommy had a confidence that was an inspiration to all who knew him. He lived life full speed ahead. He has an uncanny ability to make people feel loved and protected. It’s fitting that his two favorite songs are “Drinks after Work” and “Free Bird.” He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tommy is a three-sport athlete; basketball, baseball and soccer, at which he excelled. He played on the Big 30 All Star Teams, and coaches and fans often said “give Tommy the ball.” He is also a passionate fisherman and hunter.
Tommy graduated from Alfred State College, Magna Cum Laude, with a Sigma Tau Epsilon Academic Excellence certificate and a Diploma in Electrical Construction and Maintenance Electrician. He worked as a maintenance electrician for Lidestri Foods in Rochester from 2020 to 2022. He then moved back to Allegany, where he worked as an electrician for the City of Olean from 2022 to present.
He was converting his house with Shana to build their forever home when the tragic accident occurred on December 18, 2023.
Tommy is survived by his parents, Thomas and Trisha Moran; his sister, Madison L. Moran and her fiancé Aaron Pula; grandparents Edward and Patricia Moran, Janet and Terry Shaw, Richard and Linda Peck; aunts and uncles, Gregory (Brenda) Moran, Teresa (Patrick) Hurley, Paul (Michelle) Shaw, Tammy (Travis) McGuire, Jen (Jason) Miller, and Jacquie Barber; his loving companion, Shana Bebko; cousins, Tyler (Kelsey) Barber, Evan (Jacob) Moran, Conner Moran, Mikayla Miller and Caden Miller; and his beloved dogs, Toby and Kona.
The family received friends at Guenther Funeral Home on Friday, December 22, 2023. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at St. Mary’s Church. Bonaventure in Allegany.

As one of his favorite songs said, Tommy truly lived “Free as a bird” throughout his short but meaningful life. He will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, charisma, confidence, hard work ethic and ability to make people feel special. Even though he passed away too soon, Tommy still made the most of every day and lived his life to the fullest. He touched countless lives and will live forever in the cherished memories of all who loved him.
